Paired with the Spider II head, this cabinet has no competition with any other half-stack for the money in my opinion. The only other respectable competition would be a Mesa Boogie Triple Rec. half-stack!
Although the Spider II head is the real force behind the cabinet, good sounding speakers are extremely important. The Spider II 412 cabinet includes Celestions. Celestion speakers have always been my favorite, and these don't disappoint. The closed back cab gives your tone slightly more bass than the open back combo version, and I also like a closed back better for protection of the speakers.
The thing that really surprised me was not only how loud these speakers could get, but how clear they were even at very high volumes. The knob on the amp head goes up to 10, but I have never even come close to turning past 6! The pure tone, volume, and presence you get from this cabinet hardly needs to be recognized, its there!
The cabinet is also available at many online retailers and local stores for $399.99. So for a total of just under $800.00, you can have the head and the cabinet together.
I rate this amp and head combination a 10/10
