- William Charles Bio - Founder/President
William Charles came to faith in Christ as a child in a small
Baptist church in Northern Illinois called Lynwood Baptist. He had several experiences as a young boy and young man, which severely strengthened his faith, and gave him the knowledge that God had called him to ministry. William was interested in music and musical instruments (especially guitars) from the age of 12, and even formed a small band in the same church that he was saved in as a child. He wrote his first simple praise song called "Jesus is the rock I'm gonna stand on" with his guitar during that time. After graduating high school in 1984, William began a career in corporate computer sales while attending college, but continued to feel a pull toward doing something more spiritual with his life. On a country road, in the hot summer of 1988 while crashing his motorcycle; God pulled a little harder, and called a lot louder. In an effort to answer the call, William quit his burgeoning career in computers, put things he was in debt for up for sale, and promptly moved to Texas to go to ministry school at the age of 22.
In 1989, William graduated from Emmaus Road School of Ministry in Euless, Texas. After receiving his diploma, and being taught by such teachers as James Robison, Peter Lord, John Wimber, Leonard Ravenhill, Rick Joyner, and T.D. and Dudley Hall, William began working more heavily in several ministries that he was involved in while attending bible school He signed up for a 1 year internship at Common Ground Church in Fort Worth Texas working closely with the Senior Pastor. He tried just about every type of ministry to see if he was gifted in any particular area. After much trial and error, William found that God was forming him into someone with a heart for worshiping Him in song and with instruments, much like David did in scripture. Since that first song at 12 years old, he has written many praise and worship songs, eleven of which are on his album "To Worship You" which is available from this website and from Amazon.com, iTunes, Rhapsody, and several other music download sites. Through the years, William has retained positions as Worship Leader, Youth Pastor, and Associate Pastor in various ministries. He has also worked extensively with children, teens in youth and campus ministries, and adults in home group meetings and church meetings. Just prior to graduation, he accepted a position as an Office Manager, and then as a traveling Music Evangelist with a band called "One Man's Love" in the Dave Roever Evangelistic Association. While working with Dave Roever, William led worship and performed in many Assembly of God churches, camps, and national conventions throughout the country. William has ministered extensively throughout the United States, and as a speaker/worship leader in Kenya, Africa at the Church Ablaze Conference and in churches there. From 1993 through 2004, he retained a steady position as Music Minister and Associate Pastor at Resurrection Life Church in Aurora, IL. After that he was a part of the New Life Church worship team at New Life Church in Yorkville, IL. In 2006 he and his family moved to the Seneca, SC area where he is currently active in ministry at Foothills Community Church http://www.foothillscc.org
Heart of a Worshipper International is a ministry birthed out of William's desire to point people to a real, powerful, lasting relationship with God through the area of worship. For years he has lead people to faith in Christ, taught people to play instruments, sing, and learn to operate sound equipment, and taught on various aspects of the Christian life in both large and small settings.
When asked about his vision, William responds: "My heart is really to work along side people both young and old. I strive to be a catalyst which points people to the worship of God. In song and dance yes, with instruments yes, but also as a way of living their lives. Think about this...Imagine how hard it would have been in the days of the Israelites in the desert when they were following the cloud (which was God's presence.) Obviously there had to have been some who truly wanted to worship God and really be in His presence - I mean personally close to Him. It must have been like torture to have to stay away from God that way. Because if the average worshipper got too close, they could not survive his Glory. I believe that there had to have been that select few people, who desperately wanted to sing and dance right at His feet. To offer him not animals or blood, but their whole hearts with praise! Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, God's son, we are now able to go through the cloud and the veil, and pour out our hearts before him in song. We can use instruments and dance. We can use words, and all that the human being is capable of in worshiping Him. It's a better deal for all of us; especially for those with the heart of a worshipper!"
